In collecting and recording the reporting period data obtained from the Prosecutor’s Offices, law enforcement agencies, Centres for Social Work and non-governmental organisations, which is required to compile information on the situation concerning trafficking in persons in BiH for 2018, the BiH Ministry of Security, Department for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, found that in that year a total of 36 potential victims of human trafficking/labour exploitation/incitement to prostitution and/or sexual exploitation/trafficking for the purpose of begging/“selling, for the purpose of forced marriage”/lewd acts and other, were identified/assisted.
Of the total number of potential victims of human trafficking (36) in the period January-December 2018, 21 were female and 15 male persons.
Of the total number of potential victims of human trafficking (36), in the period January -December 2018, 12 were adults (9 were female and 3 were male), and 24 were minors (12 were female and 12 were male).
Of the totalnumber of potential victims of trafficking in human beings (36), in the period January -December 2018, the following forms of exploitation were recorded:
- 2 begging,
- 9 sexually exploited,
- 6 sales for forced marriage (combined with sexual exploitation or begging),
- 1 labour exploitation,
- 1 sexual intercourse with a child,
- 1 lewd acts,
- 6 others.
Of the total number of potential victims of human trafficking (36), in the period January -December 2018, 8 victims are foreign nationals and 28 victims are citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Concerning foreign nationals, of a total of 8 victims: 3 victims are Montenegrin citizens (2 minors/males, 1 minor/female), 2 victims are Afghan citizens (2 minors/males), 2 victims are citizens of Sri Lanka (1 adult/female, 1 minor/male) and 1 victim is a Macedonian citizen (adult/male).
