The cut out X on the USB side is the sensor that determines voice or sound. Be sure that The X is facing up and or close to music or voice. Louder music will be sensed from farther distances and light music may need to be in close proximity to cord X on usb side! Play around with it to find what works best for you. Cord responds to voice and some sounds or music. In a quiet environment the cord will just be Grey no lights. Lights pulse when voice is detected or in tune with beats of music and etc. Again the sensor placement is important!
