Red Lentil (Lens Culinaris) is an annual herbaceous plant with a low-branched stem root. The aerial part of the plant can reach a length of 75 cm. The branched stem is reddish in color, has four faces and the surface is covered with semi-rigid hairs. It can be erect, semi- or completely adjacent to the ground. Small flowers are (0.5-0.7 cm long) with a short-bell-shaped cup. The flowers have thin filiform-awl-shaped petals of white, pink or purple color. Flowering occurs in June-July. After that, bivalve beans (1 cm long, 0.8 cm wide) with seeds appear. Beans are single-nested, have a rhomboid-elongated shape and are prone to cracking when overripe.
